someone on the other side of Belgium about a car. Do you think these questions translated OK? The car will be an epic driver/project if I pull this off.

Ik ben met behulp van Google Translate. Waarom bent u de auto te verkopen? Wat recente werk heb je afgerond? Wat werk moet worden afgewerkt? Hoeveel zou u aanvaarden voor de auto? Hoe is het hydraulisch systeem? Kan de auto de 150km van u naar Bergen worden gereden?

Dankjewel!

You can probably guess what I'm asking about.

Oh, here, have a link. I don't think anyone here will buy it out from under me!

It's probably not necessary. Don;t most people over there speak English anyway?

In big cities, yes. In the smaller towns, not so much. I live in a smaller town in the French speaking part of Belgium and it's forced me to up my French game. This seller is in a smaller town in the north. More of the native folks in Flanders do speak English, but it's still not as universal as we think. In responding to the ad initially (in French) I asked if he spoke English and he wrote back "no, I speak Dutch."

I'm a native Dutch speaker. Give me a text in English and I'll translate it for you. The Google translate translation isn't horrible , other than the first sentence about Google translate and the verb in the second sentence. Note the difference between 'je' and 'u'. The latter one is the polite version. Vous in French I believe. Also note that the name "Marijke" is female.

I will be leaving at 17:35 though, so I can't promise a quick reply.

Waarom wilt u de auto verkopen? Wat voor onderhoud of andersoortig werk heeft de wagen recent gehad? Wat zijn de aandachtspunten van de auto? Voor hoeveel wilt u de auto verkopen? Hoe is het hydraulish systeem? Is de auto in staat om op eigen kracht een reis van 150 km van u naar Bergen te volbrengen?

Dank u.

I'm about to leave work, too. We'll chat later. He's been writing back and forth with me, so we're cool :)

Thank you!

Is that really a DS? It seems to have regular brake pedal instead of the "mushroom" used by the the high pressure system in DS.

That's an excellent question. I just asked the seller.

Well, you know where to find me. I did notice a mistake in my translation:

Hoe is het hydraulis che systeem?

And isn't it a hydropneumatic system? ("Hoe is het hydropneumatische systeem?")

I just used "hydraulic" in google translate to keep it simple.

Mushroom brake pedal is for Pallas only. This isn't a Pallas model.

I thought that mushroom was used by models: DS19, DS20, DS21 and DS23. And "normal" brakes by: ID19, ID20, DSpecial and DSuper. I guess there could country specific models that don't follow this but I was in impression that the different brake system was among the crucial differences between the DS and ID models. The estate (break) models messed up this rule as they all had DS's mushroom brake system.
